Current Opportunities

Playgroup Manager (Full-Time, Term Time Only)

Salary Range: £27,000-£30,000 per annum WTE (salary will be pro-rata based on hours worked, term time only)

 

About the Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Playgroup Manager to lead our team and continue developing our nurturing environment where children can thrive through play-based learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and management of the playgroup

  • Ensure high-quality care and education that meets EYFS requirements

  • Lead and mentor staff, supporting their professional development

  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and the wider community

  • Maintain up-to-date records and documentation

  • Oversee health, safety, and safeguarding procedures

  • Manage the playgroup's budget and resources effectively

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum)

  • At least 3 years' experience in a leadership role within an early years setting

  • Strong knowledge of EYFS framework and Ofsted requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Passion for child-centered, play-based learning

Bank Staff (Casual, Term Time Only)

Hourly Rate: £12.21(term time only)

About the Role: We are building a pool of reliable and qualified bank staff who can provide cover during staff absences, busy periods, and special events during term time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Step in to support the team when needed

  • Help implement play-based learning activities

  • Ensure children's needs are met in a nurturing environment

  • Follow playgroup policies and procedures

  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents

Requirements:

  • Level 2 Early Years qualification (minimum)

  • Experience working with young children

  • Flexible availability during term time

  • Good communication skills

  • Enthusiastic and adaptable approach

  • Enhanced DBS check

 

 

 

Volunteer Opportunities

 

As a community playgroup, we rely on the generous support of volunteers to help our playgroup thrive. Volunteering is a rewarding way to contribute to your local community while gaining valuable experience.

 

Committee Members

About the Role: Our management committee oversees the running of the playgroup as a charitable organisation. We meet termly with the Playgroup Manager to make important decisions about the playgroup's operation and future direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend termly committee meetings (usually evenings)

  • Help shape playgroup policies and procedures

  • Support governance and compliance with regulations

  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making

  • Act as a trustee for the charity

Specific Roles Include:

  • Chairperson

  • Treasurer

  • Secretary

  • Ordinary Committee Members

Time Commitment:

Termly meetings (2 hours)

Additional time as needed for specific roles

Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm for supporting early years education

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others

  • Basic understanding of charity governance (training provided)

  • Relevant skills depending on role (e.g., financial experience for Treasurer)

 

Help With Fundraising

About the Role: Our fundraising plans run throughout the year to raise vital funds for playgroup equipment, resources, and special experiences for the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help plan fundraising events (fairs, sponsored activities, etc.)

  • Assist with promoting events in the local community

  • Support event setup, running, and cleanup

  • Contribute creative ideas for new fundraising initiatives

Time Commitment:

  • Flexible, depending on availability

Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm and creativity

  • Good communication skills

  • Reliability and teamwork

  • Any experience in events, marketing, or fundraising is a bonus!
